Sut mae gan Diet Coke 0 calori?
Have you ever had a diet soda or cola diet and noticed that it said the drink had 0 calories? Have you ever wondered what something could be like without calories? Although sweet. Let me analyze the math behind these foods and drinks.
There are two possible reasons for this:
Reason 1:
Anything that contains sugars, fats or amino acids, we get no calories from it unless they are broken down in our body.
Artificial sweeteners contain calories, but our bodies cannot break down the compounds and convert them into energy, but they are still recognized by the sweet taste receptors on the tongue. As a result, we can feel the taste of that particular drink. Since your body can’t break them down and use them as regular sugars, they flush out of your body without change. That’s why they have a sweet taste without added calories.
Reason 2:
There are many different types of artificial sweeteners. But in general, they are much sweeter than normal sugar, so they only need a small amount to make a drink with the same level of sweetness.
For example, Diet Coke is sweetened with aspartame. Aspartame is a protein that is 200 times sweeter than table sugar. Aspartame has 4 calories per gram, the same as normal sugar. But because it is much sweeter than normal sugar, you will need less aspartame (1/200) to make a drink with the same sweetness. That means you get 0.36 calories of a can of Diet Coke. Under FDA Law, Any Food Under 5 Calories Can Be Labeled “No Calories”
Splenda is another artificial sweetener. It also tastes much sweeter than sugar, so you’ll need to consume less. Also, the human body can’t digest Splenda, so it’s actually 0 calories.
So are these two possible reasons why diet soda or diet cola have 0 calories?
